With Gratitude
As Somerset Medical marks its first year, I find myself reflecting not just on milestones, but on moments — the quiet conversations, the progress checks, the text messages that started with “Hey, quick question…” and led to peace of mind.
Medicine, at its core, is about relationships. When I opened this practice, my goal was simple: to make time for those relationships again. To listen, to understand, and to care without the clock dictating every decision.
I also want to take a moment to thank Helen, my nurse and partner in care. Many of our patients mention her by name — and for good reason. Her warmth, intuition, and ability to make people feel immediately comfortable have shaped the very heart of this practice. Somerset wouldn’t be what it is without her.
And on a personal note, I’m deeply grateful to my husband, Reese. His steady encouragement, patience, and belief in what we’re building here have made every long day and late night worthwhile. Somerset may have my name on the door, but it reflects both of our hearts.
One year later, the gratitude I feel for the trust my patients have placed in me, and in our team, is hard to put into words, but here goes…

A Year of Listening and Learning
Many of our patients came to Somerset after years of frustration with short appointments and impersonal systems. Their stories have been humbling and affirming.
One patient shared:
“I’ve never had a physician spend so much time in the room with me. Dr. Church lends a listening ear and takes a holistic approach instead of immediately going to the prescription pad.”
Another told us:
“This is my first experience with concierge medicine, and wow, what a game changer. I can text at all times with my doctor. At my appointment, both the nurse practitioner and the doctor greeted me at the front door — no waiting, no rushing.”
And perhaps the most rewarding comment came from someone who said:
“Dr. Church and Nurse Helen are truly the dynamic duo… giving patients amazing care, lots of time, easy communication, all in a beautiful office. A new level of care in Atlanta.”
Hearing words like these reminds me why we built Somerset the way we did — not as a luxury, but as a return to what healthcare should be.
Redefining What Care Feels Like
Concierge medicine isn’t about convenience for its own sake. It’s about removing barriers so care can be personal again. When patients can reach out directly — whether for a quick question or a serious concern — they’re more likely to act early, stay engaged, and feel confident about their health.
We’ve seen that difference firsthand. Same-day appointments that prevent a minor issue from escalating. Follow-up visits where a conversation about stress or sleep changes someone’s daily routine. And yes, even house calls — because sometimes the best medicine is showing up where the patient feels most comfortable.
As one patient said: “I’ll never go back to the old way. Somerset is the way to go.”
That’s not about us — it’s about the principle. It’s about putting the human connection back into medicine.
The Real Measure of Success
The past year has been full of learning — about medicine, yes, but also about people. Each patient’s story reinforces that the best outcomes come from partnership, not prescriptions.
A patient recently told us,
“Dr. Church takes the time to truly listen, offering personalized advice and treatment plans that make me feel valued and understood. His expertise, compassion, and proactive approach have transformed my healthcare experience.”
That, to me, is success. When people feel seen, they take ownership of their health. When they feel supported, they flourish.
Looking Ahead
Somerset’s first year has been more rewarding than I could have imagined. Every new patient, every conversation, every small step forward in someone’s health reinforces that this model works — because it centers on people, not processes.
To those who have joined our practice: thank you for your trust, your feedback, and your friendship. You’ve made Somerset not just a clinic, but a community.
To those considering this approach: if you’ve ever wished for a doctor who takes the time to truly know you, who is accessible when you need guidance, and who sees health as a lifelong partnership — we’d love to meet you.
Here’s to another year of care, connection, and good health, together. Thank you again for being part of this journey — and for helping us make healthcare personal again.
Warmly,
Nicholas Church, MD
